Hamlet (Italian:Amleto) is a 1917 Italian silent drama film directed by Eleuterio Rodolfi and starring Ruggero Ruggeri, Helena Makowska and Mercedes Brignone. It is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet.[1]

Hilde Warren and Death Joe May's German shepard reluctantly approved the script Hilde Warren, famous actress, is happy with life ... and Hans von Wengraf, a theatrical director, is her ardent admirer Hector Roger, a young aristocrat, is elegant and seductive. At the bank, Hector's accomplice raises suspicions about his role in the bank robbery. Hector reads that his accomplice has been arrested. In the name of the law ! No charges are held against you. You are free. Hans comes to visit Hilde in the country He asks again Hilde to marry him. She rejects his proposal again. Hilde discovers that she is pregnant with Hector's child. Hilde moves to the countryside to raise her son. Hans meets Hilde's son, Egon, with his nurse. He witnesses Egon's aggressive tendencies. Hans suggests that Hilde be very strict with her son. Hans asks for Hilde's hand in marriage again. She accepts this time. Hans write a letter to Hilde asking her to give up her child. Hilde refuses Hans's request ... and asks God to make her a good mother. Without reply from Hilde, Hans does not return. Hilde reads in the paper that Hans has committed suicide. Hilde believes she is the cause of Egon's aggressive tendencies. Death appears again. Hilde again rejects its lures. Egon is now an adult. Like his father, he needs lots of money for his pleasures. Fernande Sarrat was a Lady of ill repute. Hilde is informed of the poor state of her bank account. Hilde tells Egon not to pay so much for his whims. Egon, like his father, is prey to bad company. The criminal proposes a shady deal to Egon. Running away from the police, Egon asks his mother for help. Hilde pretends to get money for him. I have killed my son ! Hilde goes to jail. In her cell, Death again offers Hilde consolation and comfort. This time, Hilde accepts his offer.
