The HA postcode area, also known as the Harrow postcode area,[2] is a group of ten postcode districts in England, within seven post towns. These cover part of northwest London, plus a very small part of south Hertfordshire.

The main sorting office is in Greenford (Green Park Way)[3] and the area served includes virtually all of the London Borough of Harrow, the northeastern part of the London Borough of Hillingdon, the western part of the London Borough of Brent and small parts of the London Boroughs of Barnet and Ealing, while the northern part of HA6 covers a small part of the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire.

Correlation to traditional terms

The same map as above as against the same area in all its traditional terms, newer traditional being in green.
The same map as above as against the same area in all its traditional terms, newer traditional being in green.

The very traditional identities in grey, inset, are those in the Victoria County History series. Main newer traditional identities (districts) are in green in the same map. Essentially the non-correlations in postcode districts versus traditions are in these six ways:

  • The south-western 14 of Edgware, HA8 is traditionally Little Stanmore
  • The south-eastern 15 of Edgware, HA8 is traditionally Hendon, in newer traditional terms divided between Colindale and Mill Hill.
  • The northern 25 of Northwood, HA6 is traditionally Rickmansworth (but Watford Rural east of Wellesley Avenue)
  • The southern 35 of Northwood, HA6 is traditionally Northwood but itself traditionally the north of Ruislip
  • The western 14 of Pinner, HA5 is traditionally Eastcote, itself traditionally a manor within Ruislip
  • The entirety of Wembley, HA0 and HA9 is in very obsolete terms, Harrow (save for the southwest corner of originally rectangular Kingsbury between Wembley Park station and Salmon Street-Blackbird Hill).
