Gideon Defoe (born 26 December 1975) is a British writer and author of The Pirates!, a series of comedy books following a group of pirates on their adventures. He also wrote the screenplay for The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!, which is an animated film based on the first novel in his The Pirates! series. According to his book, An Atlas of Extinct Countries, Defoe also does film development work with Locksmith Animation and Studio Canal, and is developing a sitcom with BBC studios.
