File:Wire inverted L antenna construction.png

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Original file(1,676 × 954 pixels, file size: 180 KB, MIME type: image/png)

Summary

Description
Diagram of an Inverted-L wire shortwave antenna showing parts. The inverted L is used as a transmitting and receiving antenna on the longwave, medium wave and shortwave bands by short wave listeners and radio amateurs. It consists of a wire strung between two supports with insulators at the ends to insulate it from the supports, with a vertical wire attached at one end which drops down and connects to the transmitter or receiver. This example from 1922 also has a lightning grounding switch to attach it to a ground connection during lightning storms for safety.

Caption: AN INVERTED L ANTENNA ADJUSTED BETWEEN TWO BUILDINGS It will be seen that there is a pulley adjustment that permits lowering of the antenna; or the tightening of it if it sways in the wind.

Alterations to image: Erased parts list from white area and cropped bottom slightly.
