Description

Богоматерь Владимирская. 1395 – сер. 1410-х гг. ВСИХМЗ. Инв. В-2971. 101×69 см. На обороте — изображение Голгофского креста — живопись XIX в. Происходит из Успенского собора во Владимире, откуда в 1921 или в 1923 г. была передана во Владимирский музей. Раскрыта в 1918 г. владимирской экспедицией Всероссийской комиссии по сохранению и раскрытию памятников древней живописи И. Э. Грабаря (Г. О. Чириков, Ф. А. Модоров, И. А. Баранов).

Одна из самых древних копий считавшейся чудотворной византийской иконы «Богоматерь Владимирская» н. XII в., сделанная в размер оригинала.

Рублеву икону приписывают И. Э. Грабарь, А. И. Анисимов, В. Н. Лазарев, Г. И. Вздорнов, В. Н. Сергеев, Э. К. Гусева, В. Г. Брюсова, В. А. Плугин, в то время как М. В. Алпатов и Э. С. Смирнова решительно отвергают его авторство.

Икону часто датируют 1408 г., исходя из факта работы Рублева и Даниила во Владимире. (В. Г. Брюсова датирует ее 1409–1411 гг.) Однако в написании иконы в 1408 г. не было необходимости, так как древний образ, кажется, находился тогда во Владимире. Во всяком случае, он был там в 1410 г., см.: ПСРЛ. Т. 6. СПб., 1897:216. Можно предположить, что произведение исполнено в Москве в связи с событиями 1395 г., когда сюда временно привезли древнюю «Богоматерь Владимирскую».
