Summary

Description
Vatsala Bhagwati temple and Pashupatinath temple in Bhaktapur Durbar Square area. Both of these artistic temples were built during the reign of King Yakshamalla. It was revived by King Bhupatindra Malla. These Bhagwati are also considered as another form of mountain. These goddesses are also called Vatsaleshwari. Inside this temple, there is a linear carving on the lotus pedestal of the rock symbolizing Vatsala Bhagwati. Vatsaladevi is also considered as Shiva's lover. The feature of this temple is that even though it is a temple of the goddess, there is a trident on the upper part of the roof. According to the religious tradition, regular worship is performed in this temple. This temple is very crowded with devotees on Saturdays and Dashain festivals. Guthi has also been arranged for the daily worship of this temple. Similarly, the temple of Pashupati is called the temple of Yaksheshwar Mahadev. Inside the temple, there is a statue of Panchmukhi Mahadev like Pashupatinath. There is a legend that there was a king in Duwakot in ancient times. He stopped the king of Bhaktapur from going to Pashupati, so you don't have to come here in a night dream when you don't get to visit Pashupati. Guthi has also been arranged for the worship of this Pashupati temple. Apart from the daily pooja aarti by the priests, special pooja is performed in this Pashupati temple on the great festival of Hindus, Shivaratri, and there is a large crowd of devotees. The Bhaktapur Durbar area is beautiful in itself, and this two-story temple has greatly enhanced the beauty of the Bhaktapur Durbar area.
