Notes In the 1603 inventory of collection of Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini, with other (better) painting with same subject and same artist. They passed into the Doria Pamphilij Gallery, which sold this one in the late eighteenth century. Norton Simon bought it with the contents of the Duveen gallery in NYC.
