Description
Theodore Roosevelt speaking from a car in Milwaukee on Oct. 14, 1912, shortly before a gunman shot and wounded him in front of the Gilpatrick Hotel. This photo shows the former president speaking from an automobile on the south side. He gave a number of talks, including one at the Deutscher Club (now the Wisconsin Club), before going to the Gilpatrick to rest before his major address at the Auditorium, which he made despite his wounds.
