File:The concession of privileges mosaic.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Summary

Description
Mosaic of Imperial Privileges at Sant'Apollinare in Classe (7th century), probably made shortly before 681.

From left to right: either Justinian II (born in 669) or the Exarch of Ravenna; Tiberius (co-emperor 654–81); Heraclius (co-emperor 654–81); Constantine IV (emperor 668–85); two archbishops, a priest and two deacons. The portraits of Constantine's sons, especially Justinian, are clearly idealized, at least in their body.

Alternatively, the mosaic may depict Emperor Constans II with his sons granting autocephaly to Archbishop Maurus of Ravenna.
