Notes

The handscroll certifies the ordination of Empress Zhang as a priestess in the hierarchy of religious Daoism. It depicts fifty-two gods and immortals, each named in gold calligraphy, from Daoism.

The six Jade Maidens together are named as the Liuding Shennü (六丁神女) in the calligraphy elsewhere on the scroll.
