Clement C. Moore's classic poem, The Night Before Christmas, is presented with ten illustrations by Toledoan Helmuth Thoms. The work was commissioned in 1934 by the Public Works Administration Art Project, under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration. Helmuth F. Thoms (1915-1994)" was a junior at Scott High School at the time of the project. Illustrations were done in mixed medium, including pencil, watercolor, gouache, and ink. Photographs of these images, along with those of 24 different area artists were exhibited in Washington D. C. as part of a national exhibition.
