Description
English: George-Philip-Reinagle. The-Battle-of-Navarino-20-October-1827

Depicted ships L-R: Foreground far left a Turkish ship (74) is engaged to starboard, with to the right in starboard-quarter view, the French Breslau (84) , is shown firing into the bow of the Turk. A Turkish frigate blowing up. Just to the right of centre is HMS Albion (74), starboard-quarter view, in action with a Turkish double-banked frigate, only the starboard bow showing.

Also in the smoke, just to the right, the port bow of a Turkish (74) engaging HMS Genoa (74), in port-bow view. Past her stern the starboard view of the flagship of the Turkish admiral, Capitan Bey, is barely visible and is engaged to starboard by Codrington's flagship, HMS Asia, in starboard-quarter view. The Asia is also engaged to port with the Egyptian flagship of Mocharem Bey, barely visible through the smoke. Slightly nearer is the smaller French Alcyone, 10 guns, and HMS Dartmouth, (42), both in starboard-quarter view, with a glimpse of the Sirene, (60) beyond. On the extreme right, half out of the picture, is a stern view of the French Trident, (74). Signed and dated 1828 in the lower right corner.

This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
Public domain

The author died in 1835, so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 100 years or fewer.

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929.

The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.
