Summary

Description

Ball-and-stick model of a sotalol molecule, C12H20N2O3S. This model is based on the crystal structure of the hydrochloride, reported in Acta Cryst. B (1976) 32, 2757-2761 (CSD entry SOTALC). The OH hydrogen is not located in the crystal structure determination but is assumed to be present, so its position has been guessed for this diagram. Similarly, one of the two R2NH2+ protons has been deleted to make the group neutral, but the choice of proton is somewhat arbitrary. No crystal structure of the free base molecule could be found in the literature at the time of writing.

Colour code:

Carbon, C: grey
Hydrogen, H: white
Nitrogen, N: blue
Oxygen, O: red
Sulfur, S: yellow
Model manipulated in Avogadro 1.2 and image generated in CCDC Mercury 3.8.
