What we do. Every page goes through several hundred of perfecting techniques; in live mode. Quite the same Wikipedia. Just better.
The shadow mask of a 15" CRT monitor (diagonal dot pitch: 0.28 mm) in close-up, showing the cursor. When displayed on the same monitor set to its optimum resolution (1024x768 pixels), the final photo has a magnification of about 40x.
Photo taken with a Canon Powershot A95 camera and some additional equipment (a Pentax K mount 50 mm f:1.7 lens and a simple convex lens taken off a magnifying glass) to achieve the magnification.
