From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Original file(2,407 × 1,077 pixels, file size: 728 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

These are the remains of the Hara castle or Hara fortress, destroyed during the Shimabara Rebellion in 1638. The castle itself is actually rather far from Shimabara, but still on the Shimabara peninsula (eastern part).
