The caption reads: "Here is a Jay Young railgun with a 2" diameter barrel in a barrel-block. This is a super-stiff barrel."

"Railgun" is a term used for the unlimited class benchrest shooting rifles or ammunition test guns, which are in essence a rifle and a machine rest in one. With the shooter's hold taken out of the equation, the skills required for shooting a railgun are reduced to judging the wind. Railguns are accurate enough to be sighted once, then fire ten rounds into a single hole at 100 yards without resighting between shots.
