Permission
(Reusing this file)
According to Maureen Waller in Sovereign Ladies (John Murray, ISBN 0719566282): "This official photograph, taken to mark her Diamond Jubilee in 1897, was deliberately not registered for copyright, ensuring that it would be distributed throughout the empire and used on thousands of commemorative souvenirs." (caption to photograph between pages 364 and 365, see also page 443). Although the photograph was issued for the jubilee of 1897, it was actually taken in 1893 on the occasion of the wedding of Prince George, Duke of York (the future King George V) and Princess Mary of Teck.
