Description

Boris Souvarine Papers - Soviet Russia Photos graduateinstitute.ch/home/research/library/archives/boris...

Notes: The back of this picture holds the mention (in Russian and French) "New elections to the Petrograd soviet at the Putilov factory, after the report by Comrade Glebov-Putilovskii, July 1920"). This legend may designate Nikolaï Glebov-Avilov (1887-1937). A Bolshevik leader arrested during a strike at Putilov factory in 1912, he took a part in the February Revolution, and became and active representative of the Bolsheviks in Petrograd, involved in factories issues.

The left banner reads: "Long live the Party of the universal Army of Labour"; one can see a worker ringing a bell. The right banner reads: "To create a locomotive means to bring close to the end hanger and misery, as well as to give a final blow to capitalism".

Unknown photographer.
