Description

Bruegel paints the saying 'He who behaves like a pig, belongs in a sty'. This is the earliest known painted genre scene by Bruegel. In fact, it's a painted 'teljoor' or wooden platter, but has probably never been used for eating. (Source: exhibition text From Bosch to Bruegel, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, NL)
