Nanowire lasers are in development in the laboratory of Peidong Yang of the University of California, Berkeley. Yang is the 2007 National Science Foundation Alan T. Waterman awardee . On May 15, 2007, Yang and other leading experts on nanoscale science and engineering participates in a call-in program to highlight the latest nanotechnology developments.
