Pictured are Military Vehicles being loaded at Marchwood Military Port (MMP), Southampton to be used during Ex Shamal Storm.

Ex SHAMAL STORM 16 was the deployment of the OF4 Vanguard Enabling Group, led by 17 Port and Maritime Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps.

The VE Group delivered a scalable, robust and task-orientated group capable of mounting, deploying, enabling, sustaining and recovering a composite mix of specialised Combat and Combat Support capabilities in order to provide the Army contribution to ‘Joint’ Theatre Entry (JTE) as part of the Vanguard fielded force.

It saw the deployment of over 1700 personnel across a wide variety of Units in a large scale Combined Arms exercise.

British troops travelled to Jordan to test their ability to move personnel, vehicles and equipment to any area of the world at very short notice. Troops from the Vanguard
