Mr; Cases struggle with broken health was also partici-pated in by Mr. Abbey, who was always at his side with his 46 cheering conversational powers. He accompanied him usuallyon his excursions, and stood like a tower of strength betweenhim and the aggressive and persistent pressure of worldly affairs.None could so well have given to you the story of that secludedlife of Leonard Case—thoughtful for those he esteemed andrespected, and wisely considerate for those who should come afterhim—as Henry Abbey could have done. He did not do it, andwe must conclude that what he did not write or say of this lifewas as sacred in his possession as it had been during the lifetimeof a man of whom he spoke in these few but comprehensivewords, He was the wisest and the best man that I ever knew. ,;

CASE SCHOOL OF APPLIED SCIENCE, Cleveland, Ohio The Main Building, constructed under the supervision of Henry G. Abbey In 1877 and 1879 Air. Case deeded real estate to Mr. Abbeyto be used after his death in the establishment of the Case School.This trust was carried out with great efficiency. The year follow-ing Air. Cases death instruction was begun in his old homefacing the public square, and in 1885 the school was removed toa new building on the present site. Unfortunately, when onlyhalf completed, this building was totally destroyed by fire, andAir. Abbey had to begin his work all over again. He did notlive to see the new main building fully completed. It is now onlyone of seven buildings on the 25-acre campus, amply maintainedby the income of the real estate deeded for the purpose. 47 Leonard Cases grandfather, Meshach Case, settled withhis family in the Western Reserve in 1800, when there were notfifty people, beside themselves on the whole domain of the Con-necticut Land Compan
