Description	This is the official Mars Global Surveyor patch, and shows the spacecraft above Mars with stars in the background. A cartoon of the spacecraft trajectory can be seen leaving Earth (blue dot) and travelling around the Sun, Venus and Mercury to reach Mars. MGS launched in late 1996.

	This file is in the public domain in the United States because it was solely created by NASA. NASA copyright policy states that "NASA material is not protected by copyright unless noted". (See Template:PD-USGov, NASA copyright policy page or JPL Image Use Policy.)
