Description
Drawing of a lost multiple solidi of Justinian I figuring a lost equestrian statue of Justinian in Constantinople, struck in celebration of the victory in the Vandalic War. Copy in the British Museum : Electrotype copy of the Justinian medallion, the original was found near Caesarea in Cappadocia in 1751 but stolen from the French royal collection in 1831 and presumed destroyed. CEM266 and CEM216242 are copied from this electrotype.
