Summary

Description Title page of Jeanne La Fileuse ("Joanne the Spinner"), as it appeared in the first edition as a book. The novel, originally published in serial form in Beaugrand's Fall River paper La Republique, has been identified by numerous critics and historians as the first example of a novel in Franco-American literature and its associated movements.
