File:Hull And Barnsley Beverley Road Bridge.jpg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Original file(3,534 × 2,522 pixels, file size: 3.94 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description
The former Hull And Barnsley Railway Bridge over Beverley Road, Hull, Humberside, England. This bridge opened with the line in 1885 and is still in use as part of the Hull Docks Branch, carrying heavy freight such as imported coal, from Hull Docks. Note the themed public house to the left, The Cannon Junction. This is a reference to the fact that there was a junction to the left of the bridge (east) until 1968, and until 1924 that junction carried passenger trains to the H+BR's Cannon Street Station. The passenger trains were transferred to the main Paragon Station in 1924, and the branch became goods only until closure some 44 years later.
