Source	Created 2 images with openoffice.org calc then used the Gimp image editing program to combine the 2 images. The data for this was obtained from the U.S. Treasury using the "Federal Debt" document found on this page: http://fms.treas.gov/bulletin/index.html Older data can be found at: http://fms.treas.gov/bulletin/backissues.html The public portion is found in Table FD-2 while the government portion is in Table FD-3. The data was sorted in ascending order for these charts.
