verso:

F.C. / S.
Notes Although bearing some resemblance to contemporary portraits of Marie Leszczyńska, Queen of France, this identification should be rejected due to different facial features and a costume in hues typical for a British princess (crimson) rather then Queen of France (blue); clearly manner of William Hogarth. Together with a portrait of Louis XIV of France (inv. no. 187419) of similar dimensions, also signed F.C.S. at the back, it was in unidentified collection in Ducal Prussia. Identification and attribution by Marcin Latka (Artinpl).
