Notes
  • Significance: Architectural - Being one of five well developed Greek Revival houses in LaGrange and dating from the community's earliest historic period, this house is representative of the antebellum character of this important west Georgia town. Historical - The house was home to several prominent LaGrange citizens. John P. Herndon who had the house built was a local building contractor responsible for many of the early brick buildings in LaGrange. John H. Glanton, a descendent of one of Troup County's earliest settlers, was a considerably large landowner. Wiley A. Reeves, Sr., was a local banker. During the Civil War, the house was reputedly used as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers.
