Description
Woodblock print. Shows the Great Wall of China, the defense structures of the military towns along the border and the coast. Also shows the number of soldiers and horses stationed in the border towns, and ethnic groups in the border area. Enlarged Universal Terrestrial Atlas of China. Covers Yellow River, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and the administrative divisions of China in Ming Dynasty. Relief shown pictorially. Compiled by Luo Hongxian and based on "Yu di tu" by Zhu Siben using Chinese grid system. Each grid represents 100 miles. Geographical legend used. Folding books, starting from both ends, text in 17 vertical lines. LC set wormed holes. Also available in digital form on the Library of Congress Web site. This atlas is kept in the Asian Division.
