Object history
Deutsch: Mondsichel und Stern beziehen sich auf die ehemalige geistliche Grundherrschaft Garsten; unter Abt Friedrich I. (1263-1281) wurde der gesamte Klosterbesitz in elf Ämter eingeteilt, das größte davon war das bis zur steirisch-niederösterreichischen Grenze reichende Urbaramt Weyer-Gaflenz. Die beiden Mariensymbole erscheinen bereits im Konventsiegel an einer Urkunde des Abtes Berthold und des Konventes vom Jahre 1263. - Die weiß-roten Doppelpfähle sind dem oberösterreichischen Landeswappen entnommen. - Das untere Spitzfeld zeigt als markantes Wahrzeichen der Gemeinde die Filial- und Wallfahrtskirche "St. Sebald am Heiligenstein" in ihrem heutigen Aussehen.
