"Consul General Visits Port Vostochniy
"Russian Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) container ship in port Vostochniy.
"As the Russian Far East develops, ports like Vostochniy near Nakhotka play an increasingly important role. The port handles coal and lumber and imports and exports goods to China, South Korea, and Japan. The Consul General visited the port and spoke to port officials about how U.S. companies can become more involved. Port officials reported that they had been to the United States and are very interested in U.S. equipment for handling loading coal. American long haul trucks are also being used more frequently as they are well-suited for Russia’s conditions. Vostochniy can load goods, including automobiles, directly on to the Trans Siberian railway."
