This building is inscrit au titre des monuments historiques de la France. It is indexed in the base Mérimée, a database of architectural heritage maintained by the French Ministry of Culture, under the reference PA00096767 .

Description
Français : Façade de la Basilique Notre-Dame-des-Enfants à Châteauneuf-sur-Cher, seul édifice religieux en France dédié aux enfants. En 1861, l’abbé Ducros est nommé à la cure de Châteauneuf-sur-Cher. L’église est quasiment en ruine. Il a alors l'idée de demander deux sous à tous les enfants de France pour la reconstruire. Il reçoit beaucoup de petits dons, souvent accompagnés de lettres. Dans l’une d’elles, une fille de dix ans habitant Semur-en-Brionnais, évoque Notre-Dame des Enfants. L’idée est adoptée. La première pierre est posée en 1869, l'édifice est ouvert au culte en 1879, est achevé en 1886. Le pape Léon XIII l’érige en basilique mineure en 1896. Elle est consacrée le 24 avril 1898.
