Description | Western Digital FD1771 floppy disk controller datasheet. (Cover of a 20 page booklet.) The FD1771 was introduced in July 1976 at about the same time as Shugart SA-400 5.25 inch Mini Floppy drive. These two products reduced the cost of a personal computer floppy disk system from $2000 to $700. Western Digital followed the FD1771 with a series of improved controllers with additional features. |
