English: Sarcophagus of Eshmunazor II, king of Sidon. First quarter of the 5th century BCE. Necropolis of Magharat Tablun (Apollo's cave), Saidda, former Sidon (Lebanon). Department of Oriental Antiquities. Room 17a. AO 4806. Louvre. Egyptian sarcophagus. The king wears the attributes of royalty in Egypt: the nemes (hairdressing), the false beard; he is adorned with a pectoral whose ends are decorated with falcon's heads. The lid bears the longest known Phoenician inscription from the Persian period.
