English: Divers Preparing for Work. Front cover illustration of the February 8, 1873 The Illustrated London News.[1] While not labelled explicitly, the Wreck of the Northfleet, a major naval disaster, occurred on the 22nd of January, and an article in a previous issue mentions divers being sent to recover the bodies and other remains. It would presumably have been obvious what they were doing to readers of the time.
