South African Defense Minister Patrick Lekota (right) meets with Secretary of Defense William Cohen (left) at the Pentagon on Dec. 7, 1999. Lakota and Cohen are having a plenary session with delegations from both nations to discuss a range of regional and global security issues. Attending the meeting as part of the South African delegation are: Col. Christaan Gildenhuys (left, far side of the table), the defense attaché at the South African Embassy, and Major General Kenneth Snowball (center), the chief of staff.
