Object history Die Gemeinde Wildflecken besteht seit 1978 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Wildflecken und Oberbach. Dabei ging die Bezeichnung Markt von Oberbach an die neue Gemeinde über. Die Gemeinde ist eine Rodungssiedlung, welche die Forstmeister von Lebenhan mit Zustimmung der Fürstbischöfe von Würzburg in der ersten Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts angelegt hatten. Die ersten Siedler des im so genannten Salzforst gelegenen Ortes waren Köhler, Jäger und Forstarbeiter. Auf diese Entstehungsgeschichte der Gemeinde verweisen die Wappenfiguren Jäger und Rodungsbeil. Die Streitkolben im Schildfuß sind in vereinfachter Form dem Wappen der Forstmeister von Lebenhan entnommen und erinnern an deren Bedeutung für die Besiedlung des Gemeindegebietes.
