Object history Der Balkenschild mit dem Rautenkranz ist das Wappen des historischen Stadtherrn, des Herzogs von Sachsen-Lauenburg. Der Fischotter versinnbildlicht als redendes Wappen den Ortsnamen. Das Stadtwappen geht auf das Bild in den Siegeln zurück, die nach der Stadtrechtsverleihung 1400 einsetzen. Zeitweise änderte sich die Reihenfolge der Schildhälften.
