Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 11. Januar 1864 gemäß preußischer Kabi­netts­or­der genehmigt. Von 1890-1919 wurde dem Adler eine Herzogkrone hinzugefügt. Es geht wahr­schein­lich auf das Wap­pen von Bole­sław I. „den Lan­gen“ zurück (1127–1201), des­sen Vater Wła­dysław II. „der Ver­trie­bene“ die Linie der schle­si­schen Pia­s­ten begrün­dete.
English: The arms were officially granted on January 11, 1864. The eagle was first used by Duke Boleslaw I. (1127–1201) and has been used as the arms for the area since, even though the Duchy itself did no longer exist. The meaning of the arms is not clear.
