Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 25. Februar 1951 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenministerium genehmigt. Das rote Kreuz steht für das Kurfürstentum Trier, der Löwe für die Grafen von Blankenheim-Gerolstein. Der Herzschild war das Stammwappen der Herren und späteren Grafen von Daun.
English: The arms were granted on February 25, 1951. The arms are a combination of the three historical territories from which the district was formed. The cross is the cross of the Electorate of Trier, the lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Blankenheim-Gerolstein. The escutcheon are the arms of the Counts of Daun.
