Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Rotenburg (Wümme) wurde am 31. Mai 1979 von der Bezirksregierung Lüneburg genehmigt. Das Wappen kombiniert die Symbole der Wappen der ehemaligen Landkreise Rotenburg (Hannover), (Welfenlöwe mit dem Kreuz des Hochstiftes Verden) und Bremervörde mit den Schlüsseln Petri des Erzstiftes Bremen.
English: The arms were granted on May 31, 1979. They combine the lion from the old arms (district Rotenburg (Hannover)) with the arms of the former district of Bremervörde, which is derived from the arms of the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen. The two crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter.
