Summary

Description
The Indian Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley is in Australia trying to wrangle money for infrastructure projects including the the Adani Carmichael mine in the Galilee Basin. It was reported in Indian media he was meeting with Australian Finance Minister Matthias Cormann and the $117 billion sovereign wealth Future Fund CEO Peter Costello in regard to sourcing funding for the mine.

We know that millions of Australians are opposed to opening the Galilee Basin and coal ports on the Great Barrier Reef.

This week we have seen the worst ever bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef. We know that we can’t have coal and coral, we have to choose. See the ABC 7.30 Report on the extreme bleaching event caused by climate change.

The Snap protest was organised by AYCC outside a public lecture by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at Melbourne University.
