File:Commonwealth Flag 1976.png

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Original file(828 × 414 pixels, file size: 59 KB, MIME type: image/png)

Summary

Description
The Commonwealth Flag that was originally adopted in 1976. It features a golden symbol originally designed by Gemini News Service in 1972 atop a blue background. Sixty-four rays form the letter "C" for Commonwealth, and extend outward from a globe. The number of rays does not stand for individual member states, and instead represents the many areas in which the Commonwealth cooperates.
A redesigned flag was adopted in 2013, and the trademark on the logo used for this specific flag has since expired. This version of the flag is also public domain in the United Kingdom, as fifty years have passed since the logo was developed for an organisation headed by the monarch. It can be used to represent the Commonwealth in any events prior to 2013.
