Summary

Description
A tile on the floor in front of the entrance to the church of the Danish harbour town of Gilleleje, where in October 1943 some 75 Jews were hiding in the loft from the persecution by the Nazi occupiers until an informer enabled the Gestapo to capture them. The Hebrew inscription of the commemorative plaque, designed by Danish artist Gerda Thune Andersen, is a quote from the 4th book of Numbers (6, 24-26): "יברכך ה' וישמרך" ("The LORD bless you and take care of you")
