![The map of the border between the Russian Empire and the Qing Empire in what is today Kazakhstan / Xinjiang region, as per the Protocol of Chuguchak of 1864. The map is not signed, and according to researchers at the National Palace Museum, is probably is a copy of the original (signed) map made later by the Qing government's Foreign Office. The original would have been signed by the heads of the two delegations (General Mingyi of Uliassutai on the Qing side, Ivan Zakharov and Ivan Babkov on the Russian side). The drawings are of high quality, delineating a red demarcation line from Shabing dabakha in the northeast to the Pamir Mountains in the southwest.](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/15/China-Russia_border_-_protocol_of_Chuguchak_1864.jpg/623px-China-Russia_border_-_protocol_of_Chuguchak_1864.jpg)
