Description
This pen and ink sketch of Charles Evans, founder of the Charles Evans Cemetery, was published by "The Reading Eagle" newspaper in Pennsylvania in an 1886 article about Evans and his wife, Mary. The newspaper described its illustrations of the couple as follows: "His portrait that adorns the head of this column is from the original silhouette now in the possession of friends of this city. The original of the picture of Mrs. Evans is also to be found in the same place."
