Description

Frankfurt: Christiaan Egenolff, 1531

Rare second edition of the very important early manual on gunpowder first published in 1529. Perhaps even rarer than the first, this edition is held by only three libraries worldwide, with the other two in Germany.

The book went through many editions but is nevertheless scarce. The thinking is that the books were literally “blown up.” As practical references for gunners, conditions were not optimal for their survival.
