THE AVERNUS AND HER SISTER SHIP ACHERON WERE BUILT IN SYDNEY AND WERE COMMISSIONED IN 1885. BOTH TORPEDO BOATS WERE SOLD IN 1902 WHEN THE NSW NAVAL FORCES WERE REORGANISED.
