Chevalier, gouverneur de la Nouvelle-France de 1663 à 1665 (le premier à servir immédiatement sous les ordres de Louis XIV après que le roi eut repris l'administration de la colonie des mains de la Compagnie des Cent-Associés en 1663) ; décédé à Québec dans la nuit du 5 au 6 mai 1665. (tiré du Dictionnaire biographique du Canada).
